Job Title: Welder, Combination Maintenance Company: QinetiQ Location: Charleston, SC Description:  The Systems Engineering Group of QinetiQ North America delivers systems engineering and integration, software development, logistics information management, training systems management, information technology services, and test and evaluation support for the development, modification, fielding and sustainment of military equipment and systems. The Group's primary focus is at the operating force level and military buying commands. Our core competencies include: Enterprise IT Services Logistics Solutions/Life-Cycle Support Programmatic Services Security Solutions Software Development & Integration Systems Engineering & Integration Test & Evaluation Training Solutions Responsibilities: The Welder, Combination Maintenance joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.DSS Qualifications: The successful candidate requires a high school diploma/GED, passing employer performance tests, standard governmental agency, professional, and technical association certifications, and being qualified for specific material and processes in accordance with the American Welding Society Welding Handbook. Four (4) years of specific experience, to include: electric arc, gas shielded arc, and gas welding.  Proficient at welding as follows: executing welds in all positions, with all types of metals and alloys, in various shapes including pipes, structural forms, plates, sheet metal, bar stock, machinery and equipment are required.  Security:  Must be eligible for a Secret security clearance. Candidates for this position will be subject to a government background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship required. Some travel required.  Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift/and or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Part of the QinetiQ North America experience includes a focus on work/life satisfaction.
