Perform journeyman level work in constructing, installing, repairing, and modifying wood and wood substitute structures and items requiring close tolerance fit and structural soundness, and performing the full range of painting, including surface preparation, blending and matching paints, and coating of various surfaces requiring finishes and decorative effects.  Perform minor roofing repairs.  Plan and lay out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders in the construction and maintenance of installation facilities.  Review work orders requirements and visit worksite and analyze, evaluate, and determine structural damage when planning repair and modification projects.  Independently apply skilled carpentry methods and techniques and advanced shop mathematics to construct, install, repair, and modify a wide variety of structures, such as building frames, rafters, concrete forms, walls, staircases, door and window frames, and interior and exterior trim.  Prepare various surfaces of buildings by mechanically and chemically removing old paint and rust, filling cracks, sanding, and applying filters and base coats.  Apply skilled methods and techniques in paint preparation and coating applications to include mixing, thinning, blending, matching, tinting, and toning coating materials.  Set up, adjust, and operate spray painting equipment and other power painting equipment.  Assist in repairing and installing roofs consisting of asphalt, tile, slate roll roofing, felts, and shingles.  Removes and replaces sections of old, damaged, rotted, or deteriorated roofs.  Repair leaks in roofs and installs new roofing as required.   ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  This announcement may be used to fill one or more vacancies. Must be proficient in reading and understanding related and required maintenance and construction documents. Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.Requires working knowledge and certification as required of applicable regulatory codes, such as IBC, UBC, Joint Commission, CMS, NFPA, State and local building codes. Must be able to work effectively with commonly used office software programs. Vocational, Technical or Apprenticeship training. Previous construction experience is preferred.
