Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic Work Leader Company: Location: Tucson, AZ Description: You will assist the Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor in planning work schedules, making immediate work assignments, and reporting on project status. You will primarily direct and guide a group of journeymen Maintenance Mechanics. These employees work toward new construction of buildings, roads, fences, etc., and installation of utilities and sanitary equipment; monitors and leads maintenance projects in the repair, maintenance, and rehabilitation of existing facilities. You will also assist in training subordinates, completing project objectives, assuring that safety rules are followed, reporting on status and progress of work assignments and maintaining good housekeeping practices.   Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor, you will perform building maintenance, construction and repair tasks that require knowledge and application of a variety of trade practices associated with such occupations as electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, pipefitting, air-conditioning and refrigeration. ELECTRICAL: You will install, modify, repair, troubleshoot (tracing and locating defects), load and test new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, controls and equipment working from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings and electrical maintenance and repair manuals. PLUMBING: You will install, modify, and repair new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems, such as sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems, and fixtures and equipment. You will be working from building plans, blueprints, work orders, and sketches to plan and lay-out routing, placement, slant, slope, fall, and proper operation of new and existing systems and equipment. PAINTING: In response to work orders and/or oral instructions, you will plan and determine the methods, techniques, devices and materials needed to paint interior and exterior structures, equipment, furnishings, etc. You will prepare all surfaces to be painted by sanding, scraping, wooling, cleaning, and filling cracks or holes with putty or wood filler to build up, shape, and level surfaces. CARPENTRY: You will construct and repair a wide variety of structural items such as building frames, rafters, concrete forms, walls, staircases, door and window frames, interior and exterior trim, and miscellaneous items such as workbenches, counter tops, bookcases, equipment cabinets, computer consoles, and items requiring limited decorative trim and molding. PIPEFITTING: You will install, modify, repair and maintain new and existing heating, water, septic and drainage systems as well as hydraulic and high-pressure air, high and low pressure steam, gas and chemical systems. AIR CONDITIONING: You will install and maintain a variety of air conditioning systems that provide for heating, cooling humidifying, dehumidifying, etc., and you will be expected to recognize the cause of faulty equipment and make repairs to HVAC building management system for optimum performance.
