General Duties: Maintain good housekeeping at job site and assigned areas. Operate forklift truck and scissors lift as needed. Essential Functions: Electronics Electrician: Plan, layout and perform all required operations incident to the installations, maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic equipment within the plant and offices, such as motors, switchboards, transformers, generators, starters, lighting and power circuits; special purpose equipment, elevators, air conditioning, plant intercommunications, heating units; maintain and repair electrical elements of hoists and overhead cranes and any other type of equipment or process where electrical or electronic circuits are involved. Tear down units, determine extent of troubles, repair or replace defective parts of wiring and reassemble. Disassemble motors, clean, repair and replace work or defective parts or wiring; adjust or replace brushed, bearings, commutators, etc., and reassemble. Make proper field connections for forward or reverse motor rotations required. Install and wire motors for a variety of standard and special purpose machines and equipment; make proper connections to panels, electronic units, etc. Lay off and install wiring circuits in all arts of the plant such as new lighting, power lines, various alterations. Make explosion-proof installations where required. Install all types of conduit, making bends, threading and reaming where necessary. Repair switches, replace fuses, bulbs; make repairs to portable electric tools, fans and other equipment. Use care to plan and accomplish work in various areas with a minimum of interference or delay to production. Make assigned checks and inspection of electrical equipment, controls and installation in all parts of the plant as a matter of preventative maintenance and report findings to supervisor and take corrective action. Detect unusual conditions, defective material or faulty operation and report to supervisor. Duties include the performance of various other maintenance, installation and repair operations working singly or in conjunction with other maintenance classifications. Work involves a wide range of operations requiring skill and knowledge of the electrician's trade to wire complicated electrical and electronic circuits and where the understanding of operating principles of controls and other electrical equipment is necessary to insure efficient installation, maintenance and repair. Must have extensive electronics knowledge and skills including, but not limited to: a. Build and test complicated electronic circuitry; b. Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair complicated electronic circuitry; c. Work with electronic engineers to troubleshoot, repair and maintain microprocessor systems and related components. d. Be proficient in the use of signal generators, oscilloscopes and other miscellaneous electronic test equipment. Tour Mechanic: Responsible for providing maintenance, repair, and inspection and related duties relative to production and maintenance machinery and equipment as assigned by the maintenance or production supervisor of the shift to which the tour mechanic is assigned. The work requires a general knowledge of all aspects of maintenance and mechanics skills. When the specific assignment exceeds the tour mechanic's capabilities in a particular craft, assistance will be received from a journeyman in that craft. The level of work performed by a tour mechanic may be further limited by department work procedures. Follow prescribed preventative maintenance schedule; check and inspect various machines, boilers, thermal fluid systems, and items of equipment such as air compressors, chlorinators, water pumps and filters, machine bearings, pump packings, belts check for leaks, excessive noise, heat, vibration, mechanical malfunction, wear, broken or defective parts. Follow schedule and lubricate all types of equipment; relamp designated areas; see that material-handling equipment is in proper operating condition; change and replace batteries in transporter. Perform all types of emergency repairs possible in order to maintain equipment in operating condition. Aid operators on machine setups and changeover where maintenance assistance is required. May be assigned to perform periodic checks relating to safety of employees and plant. Tour mechanics must have the ability to adapt to new equipment and production processes; to work alone or with occasional helpers and to perform duties effectively and efficiently without constant supervision. Will ensure all non-essential machinery, equipment and lighting are properly shut down and will assist in maintaining building security as assigned. Required Qualifications: HS Diploma and minimum of 5 year industrial maintenance experience or equivalent
