Chief Engineer / Facilities Director

SUMMARY

Our hotel client is seeking a hands-on Chief Engineer / Facilities Director to oversee all property maintenance operations, ensuring the hotel’s physical structure, equipment, and systems are safe, efficient, and well-maintained. This role requires a strong mechanical generalist with proven ability to set up and manage preventive maintenance systems. The Chief Engineer will lead the maintenance team, manage service contracts, and play a key role in maintaining brand standards, guest satisfaction, and workplace safety.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement, and manage preventive maintenance programs for all building systems, equipment, and grounds.

  • Lead, train, and supervise the maintenance team while ensuring prompt, professional service to guests and staff.

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and repair hotel systems including mechanical, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, pool, and kitchen equipment.

  • Maintain records of all equipment, inspections, repairs, and service history.

  • Oversee safety, emergency, and security systems; ensure compliance with brand and regulatory standards.

  • Partner with the General Manager on capital planning, budgets, inventory, and vendor contracts.

  • Perform daily property inspections and respond quickly to maintenance issues to minimize disruption.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 years of hotel engineering or facilities maintenance leadership experience.

  • Strong mechanical generalist background with hands-on troubleshooting ability across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems.

  • Experience in preventive maintenance planning and execution.

  • CPO and HVAC certification preferred.

  • Basic computer skills and comfort with maintenance management software.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

  • Flexible, positive, and able to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
