Position Overview:
We have an opening for a Maintenance Technician at our Bowling Green, KY location. Maintenance Technicians perform preventative maintenance for equipment, building and grounds to support the plant's production goals, and overall business plans and objectives.
Our plant is high-volume, fast-paced 24/7-365 days/year manufacturing environment, Maintenance Technicians will be assigned to a specific crew and work the same assigned schedule as the crew. Crews work 12 -hour shifts (5:45am-6pm/5:45pm-6am) working 3 days on/3 days off and rotating from day to night shift every 6 weeks.
Essential Responsible Areas:
- Inspect job site and equipment, analyze blueprints and schematics, troubleshoot, repair, install, assemble, move and/or dismantle all types of machinery and auxiliary production equipment (i.e. cooling towers, robots, air compressors) .
- Maintain all shop tools and equipment and perform 5S organization duties.
- Fabricate sheet metal and structural units, as needed: guarding, steps, stairs, conveyors, elevators, and platforms.
- Act in accordance with established safety practices (such as food safety system, proper wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE), etc.) , policies and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives.
- Recognize opportunities for improvement and work with supervisor/manager for implementation of new work practices.
- Follow environmental regulations when using, dispensing, or handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials and wastes; will be exposed to occupational hazards, including but not limited to, high noise levels, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals, etc.
- Establish and maintain effective work relationships to maintain a positive and product work environment within the department, plant, division, community , and the company.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or education equivalent required.
- Proficient in the following areas: welding, brazing, burning, bending, heat treatment of metals, shearing and drilling, and/or common manufacturing equipment and tools.
- 4 or more years of industrial maintenance job-related experience in any or all of the following areas:
- Arc weld experience: MIG weld, TIG weld, and use oxy-acetylene equipment (stainless, carbon, steel, and aluminum).
- Basic structural and sheet metal fabrication.
- Ability to use basic machine shop equipment, i.e., lathes, mills, and grinders.
- Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Demonstrated ability to read blueprints; in the proper use of hand and power tools.
- Demonstrated ability to independently evaluate, troubleshoot, select action plans and make modifications to machinery per OEM and Ball standards.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Abilities:
- Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance or similar related field.
- Experience using JD Edwards and/or AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of the following areas: welding, brazing, burning, bending, heat treatment of metals, shearing and drilling, and common manufacturing equipment and tools.
- Experience with reading precise measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
