Maintenance Worker

The City of Virginia Beach Public Works-Resort Building Maintenance Division is currently hiring a Maintenance Worker. Please come join our team if you are interested in a challenging career working with a dedicated team of professionals serving our beautiful city of Virginia Beach!

As a Maintenance Worker, you will assist in a wide variety of building repairs, renovations, and construction. The work involves receiving work order assignments from a supervisor to perform a variety of tasks such as:

• General maintenance, preventative maintenance and repair of city buildings and facilities.
• Repair doors, windows, locks, door closures, panic bars, and all types of roofs.
• Pour concrete, assist in framing, trim, siding, cornice, roofing, and cabinetry on public buildings and facilities.
• Operate a pressure washer.
• Repair and installation of brick pavers.
• Use a multitude of tools and equipment associated with the trade to construct and repair various wood and composite articles.
• May be required to move furniture (as needed).
• Effectively assist in building or repairing all types of structures in accordance with standards of the trade.
• Correctly operate hand and power tools following all safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean vehicle and job site.
• Keep orderly records in order for future reference and statistical purposes.
• Must have good customer service.
• Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge, and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described in the job description.
