Nestled in southern Denton County, our city is known for its commitment to safety, community engagement, and quality services. With a diverse fleet of city vehicles, including police cars, fire trucks, and heavy machinery, and four main city facilities requiring regular maintenance, we are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Superintendent to uphold our high standards of care and efficiency.
About the Role: As a Maintenance Superintendent, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our city's vehicles, equipment, and facilities. Under general direction, you'll supervise and manage a team of maintenance personnel who perform maintenance and repair work across multiple city departments, including Fire, Police, Public Works, and Parks. You'll also oversee building maintenance and janitorial services for our four main city facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, manage, and coordinate a team performing maintenance and repair tasks for city vehicles and equipment, including police cars, fire trucks, and heavy machinery.
- Manage the leased fleet and maintain accurate records such as fuel readings, work orders, annual reports, and maintenance logs.
- Identify repair needs, order necessary parts, and ensure timely completion of maintenance work.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on heating, air conditioning, and other facility systems.
- Develop maintenance/bid specifications and manage fleet and janitorial contracts.
- Lead annual budget preparation and develop a five-year plan to meet departmental needs.
- Provide on-call emergency response for critical equipment failures.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, including TCEQ storage tank certification.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED and vocational/technical certification in automotive equipment and repair.
- Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance, including heavy trucks.
- Certified Facilities Manager certification through IFMA (or ability to obtain within one year of employment).
- Valid Texas drivers license.
- Ability to obtain a Universal 608 EPA HVAC license within one year of hire.
- Class A and Class B Underground Fuel Storage Tank licenses (or ability to obtain within six months of hire).
