What this job involves
You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems in commercial and industrial buildings managed by our company. This role requires ensuring all plumbing work meets safety standards, building codes, and client specifications while providing excellent service and maintaining the integrity of our facilities.
What is your day to day?
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, and appliances
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, building plans, and plumbing diagrams
- Troubleshooting plumbing issues and performing necessary repairs
- Conducting regular inspections of plumbing systems to ensure proper functioning and compliance with regulations
- Installing and maintaining water heaters, pumps, and other plumbing-related equipment
- Performing preventive maintenance on plumbing systems and fixtures
- Collaborating with other trades and facility management team members on projects and maintenance tasks
- Responding to emergency plumbing issues in a timely manner
- Maintaining accurate records of work performed, including time and materials used
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.
- Able to stand, walk, kneel, and maintain balance for extended periods.
Desired experience and technical skills
Required
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a commercial or industrial plumber
- Strong knowledge of local and national plumbing codes and regulations
- Proficiency in using plumbing tools and equipment
- Ability to read and interpret plumbing schematics and blueprints
- Experience operating specialized equipment to clear blocked drains (e.g., drain snakes, hydro-jetting equipment, CCTV pipe inspection cameras, pipe locating devices)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends for emergency calls
Preferred
- Valid plumber's license as required by the state of New Jersey
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or associate's degree in plumbing technology.
- Experience with backflow prevention and water treatment systems is a plus.
