Industrial Maintenance Foreman

Purpose:

The Industrial Maintenance Foreman is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of all Plant equipment. This position works closely with maintenance technicians to resolve safety / quality / reliability / cost issues in a timely manner. 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

  • All plant personnel have the responsibility to monitor, report and address any deviations from our Food Safety/Quality (i.e., HACCP & SQF) programs, as well as any safety concerns.
  • Provide leadership to the maintenance team in areas of work order planning and execution.
  • Perform maintenance repairs and adjustments on production and facility equipment.
  • Create and refine preventative maintenance program for all existing and new equipment.
  • Work closely with Production leaders to ensure smooth plant operations daily.
  • Cultivate a positive and an innovative work environment. 
  • Provide on-call support in the event of technical issues and / or floor coverage.
  • SQF Support – Responsible for development, training, implementation, and compliance of the SQF program pillars.

Other Required Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Parts Specialist to maintain adequate spare parts inventory.
  • Participate in training maintenance team members and other plant employees.
  • Ensure adequate floor coverage by formulating, posting, and updating Maintenance staffing schedule.
  • Maintain Shop organization – 5S
  • Execute administrative functions such as R&R, disciplinary actions, timecard reconciliation and PTO approval.
  • Evaluate technician job performance and provide timely feedback for improvement. 

Knowledge and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Associates/technical degree in industrial maintenance, electricity, auto mechanics, aviation, or related technical fields.
  • 3+ years of technical hands-on work experience in the above disciplines; experience in facility equipment such as boiler, compressor, ammonia refrigeration, glycol cooling, and HVAC is a PLUS.
  • Welding experience, MIG/TIG, is highly desirable.
  • Prior supervisory roles in a manufacturing environment are a PLUS.
  • Experience in repairing and maintaining dairy (esp. UP/UHT) processing & packaging equipment.
  • Experience in workflow planning, parts ordering, and using CMMS system.
  • Be able to read and understand flow, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic drawings and work these principles.
  • Experience implementing and exposure to World Class Manufacturing, TPM and/or Lean methodology.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to regularly stand, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl around equipment. May be required to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Possible exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Ability to work in various temperature conditions, often wet and/or humid conditions. Noise level requires hearing protection.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights (i.e., fall protection devices), leveraging LOTO and other safety devices.
  • Must have ability to work nights and weekends and/or provide coverage on other shifts as needed.
