Rec Maintenance Worker

This position involves performance of semiskilled work in the care and maintenance of recreation areas, skating rinks, playgrounds, and related recreation equipment. Additionally, an employee may be responsible for performing custodial activities in assigned areas and/or collecting ticket stubs for entry fees from persons entering a recreation facility. The position may involve evening and weekend work hours and prolonged exposure to weather out of doors when maintaining and supervising operation of athletic areas, including skating rinks. The work is performed under general supervision with leeway allowed for exercise of independent judgment in carrying out details of the work in accordance with established policies and procedures.Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of ice rink resurfacing and edging equipment; Working knowledge of park and recreation area and equipment maintenance methods and techniques; Working knowledge of the routine maintenance of refrigeration equipment; Working knowledge of standard building cleaning maintenance practices; Working knowledge of the apparatus and equipment required for hockey, lacrosse, basketball, football, and other recreational sports activities; Ability to maintain ice rink surfaces in a satisfactory manner using an ice resurfacing machine; Ability to read and interpret gauges and meters.
