Seasonal Public Works Maintenance Worker - Summer 2025

This is a 2025 Summer seasonal position that will assist public works staff with ensuring city roadways and utilities are being maintained in a safe, effective, and efficient manner. Performs related duties as required.Essential Duties of the Job:
- Maintenance of hydrants, curb boxes, manholes, gate valves, catch basins.
- Operate a riding mower to mow grass.
- Cleaning and televising storm and sanitary sewers.
- Painting crosswalks and curbs.
- Tree trimming, stump removal and restoration.
- Asphalt patching and street sign maintenance.
- Storm sewer maintenance.
- Operate a variety of motorized vehicles and equipment in a safe manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
- Adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Some knowledge of the tools, methods and materials used in general maintenance.
- Must be able to bend, reach stoop, stretch, twist, turn, squat, sit and stand to perform physical labor.
- Must be an effective communicator.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment.
- Must be able to work productively and cooperatively as a member of a team.
- Must be a self-starter with an ability to take initiative and to complete job duties.
- Must have the ability to work alone or with others.
- Must display a positive attitude and promote a positive image of the City to the public.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and follow directions.
- Must be able to work outside including in summer heat and around fumes from gas operated machinery.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must posses valid Minnesota driver's license and have a good driving record.
This position is seasonal with no benefits. This position will work up to 40 hours per week, 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Monday - Friday with an occasional weekend shift. Position begins in May or June; and runs through August. All materials and tools will be provided.
