Position Overview

Journeyman Electrician Department: Public Works Facilities Maintenance Location: Town of Vail, Colorado Anticipated Start Date: Early June 2025 Application Deadline: May 19, 2025

The Town of Vail is seeking a skilled and dedicated Journeyman Electrician to join our Facilities Maintenance team. This position plays a critical role in maintaining, repairing, and installing electrical systems, equipment, and infrastructure throughout all Town of Vail buildings and facilities. The successful candidate will work both independently and as part of a team to ensure the safety, functionality, and reliability of our municipal electrical systems.

This is a future opening , with an anticipated start date in early June 2025 . We encourage qualified applicants to submit their materials by May 19, 2025 for consideration.

Skills / Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid State of Colorado Journeyman Electrician License

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid Colorado drivers license

  • Ability to lift 70 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks in a variety of environments and weather conditions

  • Working knowledge of transformers, motors, lighting fixtures, wiring, and diagnostic tools

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GPS maps, and line locating equipment

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills

  • Willingness to work at heights, in confined spaces, and on ladders

Additional Requirements:

  • Completion of a defensive driving course within 6 months of hire

  • Advanced line locator certification (or ability to obtain within one year)

  • Must maintain current knowledge of the National Electrical Code and complete required continuing education

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in electrical repair and maintenance across multiple building types

  • Familiarity with municipal systems and infrastructure

  • Previous experience using GPS mapping and a bucket truck
