Job description

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS

TITLE: MILL AND EQUIPMENT ELECTRICIAN

DESCRIPTION: Overall responsibility for the maintenance, troubleshooting of electrical circuits, repair and installation of all plant electrical equipment and controls including but not limited to all control power, VFDs, PLCs, MDPs, range of 1 to 300HP motors, etc. The ability to read PLCs on diagnostic and troubleshooting laptop software is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

All plant electrical primary / secondary mechanical maintenance and repairs.

All plant electrical and mechanical installations.

All electrical control circuit and logic modifications.

Necessary emergency repairs to electrical / mechanical equipment to minimize production disruption.

Perform repairs and maintenance on electrical primary and secondary circuits and mechanical systems as required in various areas.

Lead preventative electrical maintenance programs in all areas.

Monitor spare parts and supplies inventories to ensure that materials are available in case of equipment breakdown, provide parts requisitions as needed to replenish minimum stock levels.

Planning and coordination of the electrical maintenance activities so that proper utilization of the facilities and personnel is attained and that the most critical needs are given priority.

Involvement in the planning and installation of facilities modifications as it pertains to electrical equipment and controls.

Recording of time and materials for all repairs and projects.

Installation of plant electrical equipment to include: Conduit, wiring, controls: process and motor, motors, gearmotors and required PLC programming (24 through 460 volts)

Maintain security of Company assets:

Camera systems

Equipment.

Tools.

Inventories.

Buildings.

Scheduling work assignments that best fit the uptime of the production equipment.

Recording of activities of assigned personnel.

Accountability for hours worked.

Daily contact with assigned mill supervisors and production personnel to maintain a high level of performance.

Training of personnel to develop electrical and mechanical skills.

Insist on safe work habits. Do not tolerate unsafe work practices. Responsible for the physical well being of assigned personnel.

Develop and train an assistant.

All facilities and electrical cabinets to be maintained clean, neat, and orderly.

All work areas to be picked up and cleaned when work is completed or at end of shift.

Electrical Maintenance Program:

Key function is to minimize production downtime.

The maintenance program is to include inspection of electrical equipment in order to anticipate repair needs. Predictive and Preventative Maintenance practices to be used.

The successful program requires good documentation. A checklist of inspection items is necessary to ensure that no component is overlooked.

The PM program requires close monitoring to ensure that inspections are carried out correctly.

Basic maintenance information is available from equipment manufacturer maintenance guidelines, in addition to historical plant records.

High school or equivalent (Preferred)

License/Certification:

2 yr College training in Industrial Electrical Maintenance Technology (Preferred)
