JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, the Building Maintenance Technician maintains and repairs City facilities, equipment, and buildings by performing a variety of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical repair work.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs general and preventative maintenance on HVAC and electrical systems and plumbing.
- Troubleshoots HVAC, electrical, and plumbing issues; completes repairs and replaces parts as needed.
- Paints interior and exterior walls.
- Removes, assembles, and installs furniture; moves furniture to different locations as needed.
- Installs and troubleshoots access controls.
- Completes a variety of carpentry, welding, and fabrication projects as required.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High school diploma or GED equivalent AND two (2) years of previous trades maintenance and repair experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Records maintenance and retention practices and procedures.
- Work safety policies, procedures, and practices.
- Tools, materials, and methods used in general building maintenance and repair work.
- Maintenance troubleshooting methods and techniques.
- Completing accurate mathematic calculations.
- Working efficiently with little or no direct supervision.
- Reading and accurately interpreting manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Organizing work and setting priorities to meet deadlines.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- A valid State driver's license may be required.
