JOB SUMMARYWe are looking for areliable and hardworking Maintenance Mechanic Helper to assistmaintenance technicians and mechanics in the repair, upkeep, andinstallation of machinery, equipment, and building systems. TheMaintenance Helper supports routine maintenance tasks, helpstroubleshoot mechanical issues, and ensures tools and materials areready and available. This entry-level position is ideal for someoneeager to learn mechanical skills and grow within the maintenance orfacilities field. Career Path Opportunities RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in performing pump service/maintenance activities,electrical work, facility maintenance, preventative maintenance,mechanical work, including taking accurate measurements, completingdocumentation, and referencing proper standards/documentation toensure quality craftsmanship. Ability to utilize hand tools effectively; wrenches, sockets,screwdrivers, impact tools, hammers, mallets, grinders, readingmeters. Will be trained and authorized to operate powered industrialtrucks, aerial platforms, and bridge cranes. Responsible for maintaining tools, equipment, stock levels(parts and lubes) for the department. Small hand tools must befurnished by Mechanic, specialized tools needed will be furnishedby SWSLP, or as directed by Maintenance Manager. Preventative maintenance duties to perform hands onmaintenance, troubleshooting, and complete repair work on pumps,vacuum pumps, submergible pumps, and direct acting steampumps. Ability to dialogue with yard and vendor personnel to performmaintenance or repair needs on mechanical equipment. Assess damages and diagnose possible problems with theequipment such as pumps, compressors, heavy equipment, generators,motors, hand tools, boilers, and cranes. Required to perform quality assurance inspection of partsaccording to standard operating procedure requirements. Use gauges and calipers. Conduct testing, inspecting, repairing, and re-assembling basicequipment, components, and systems including but not limited tooverhead bridge cranes, hoists, gear boxes, forklifts, companyvehicles, pneumatic and mechanical systems, transmissioncomponents, combustion engines, boiler systems, and hydraulicsystems. Follow all Safety rules and policies required in thefacility. No equipment will be removed from service unless authorized bythe Maintenance Manager or Production Managers. EXPERIENCE &QUALIFICATIONS Must have previous experience or knowledge in electrical/mechanic work. Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to interfacewith all levels of management. Must have good judgment skills, and a high-level workinitiative. Must be able to understand and abide by all company and safetyregulations and policies. Understand company quality manual and procedures describedtherein. Must have or be eligible to obtain a TWIC Card. High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred. PHYSICAL /MENTAL REQUIREMENTSThe employee must be able to perform theessential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplaceaccommodation. The individual must also be able to wear andproperly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) towork or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hardhat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, ear plugs, steel toedshoes, personal flotation devices (PFD's), or other protectiveequipment as required by the work performed and location the workis being done. In addition, Employees in this position must also becapable of: Walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from onelocation on the job site to another, which may be of varyingheights and access parameters. Standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, squatting,climbing, crawling, or sitting for long periods of time. Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, handsand back in performance of work. Climbing stairs, and/or vertical ladders of varyingheights. Working in confined work areas and/or elevated heights. Lifting objects of minimum of 10lbs, with maximum single-personlift limit of 50lbs, with frequent lifting and carrying. Adapting to temperature changes, outdoor conditions, andprolonged exposure to dusty, wet, or humid conditions, loud noises,and vibration. Visually inspecting equipment and verifying information, oftenin small print. Applying sideways/upward/downward pressure to tighten andloosen hardware. The Company expects and requires all employees toobserve and fulfill all safety responsibilities as outlined inworkplace safety training and actively work toward maintaining asafe workplace.
