Job Summary:
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day maintenance activities, supervising Maintenance and Electrical & Instrumentation Technicians, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role ensures equipment reliability through best-in-class maintenance practices and supports the company's policies, goals, and objectives in a professional manner.
Essential Job Functions:
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, coach, and hold team members accountable.
Promote personal and team development.
Inspire a shared vision and implement effective change via Management of Change (MOC) process.
Conduct performance appraisals and one-on-one meetings.
Manage timecards, PTO requests, and participate in recruitment.
Maintenance Operations
Ensure adherence to maintenance workflows and planning/scheduling practices.
Drive proactive maintenance culture and continuous improvement.
Use Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
Support the Equipment Maintenance Plan (EMP) and resolve recurring failures (bad actors list).
Apply reliability principles to prevent future equipment breakdowns.
Communication & Coordination
Regularly communicate with the Maintenance Manager on team performance.
Coordinate daily maintenance activities to ensure maximum equipment uptime.
Foster a cooperative team environment for problem solving and knowledge sharing.
Systems & Compliance
Power user of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for work orders, procurement, and data analysis.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information.
Minimum Requirements:
Education & Experience
Associate degree or higher in STEM field (Engineering preferred).
Relevant experience and education may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Minimum 7 years of experience in industrial maintenance operations.
Ethanol manufacturing experience preferred.
Familiarity with processing equipment such as evaporators, boilers, pumps, chillers, compressors, and instrumentation.
At least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
CMRP certification or similar preferred.
Language & Work Eligibility
Fluent in English (read, write, comprehend).
Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (not dependent on student or third-party sponsored visas).
Skills & Abilities Required:
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience in continuous improvement and reliability-based maintenance.
Working knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance practices.
Skilled in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and use of KPIs.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and CMMS platforms.
Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations for industrial settings.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and climbing stairs/ladders (up to 200 feet).
Work in industrial environments with exposure to dust, chemicals, and noise.
Ability to wear PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection.
Visual ability to distinguish color on computer monitors.
Use of and communication via 2-way radio.
Availability to respond to emergencies 24/7 and work outside normal hours as needed.
Ability to enter confined spaces.
