Heavy MEO Equipment Mechanic - CDL REQUIRED There will be an opening inthe Public Works Department ? Highway/Maintenance Division for a W-5Grade I & III Heavy MEO Equipment Mechanic, Grade 1 & 3 Laborer. Dutiesinclude: Motor Equipment Repairman ? Performs skilled repair andmaintenance of motor equipment; inspects and troubleshoots gasoline anddiesel internal combustion engine-powered vehicles and otherengine-powered equipment; does tune-ups; repairs electrical systems;adjusts brakes and clutches; adjusts or replaces carburetors; removesand replaces clutches and transmissions; removes and disassembles dieseland gasoline engines; replaces faulty or worn parts; grinds valves;performs welding and metal working duties. Also performs preventivemaintenance tasks such as lubrication and replacing oil filters andother similar duties. Diesel Engine Repairman ? Performs skilled repairof diesel equipment, troubleshoots diesel equipment to determinerepairs; maintains and repairs diesel engines on trucks, heavyconstruction equipment, and other diesel powered equipment, repairsignition, fuel and electrical systems, disassembles and overhaulsengines and transmissions; replaces clutches and other parts. Performsother preventive maintenance work such as adjusting brakes and relatedwork. Qualifications: must be self-motivated individual capable ofdecision making and working with little or no supervision. Five (5)years? experience working in the maintenance of gas and dieselequipment. Reports to the Maintenance Working Foreman Must possess ownnecessary tools. Welding and fabrication is desirable.
