MAINTENANCE WORKER - PARKS (Part Time)

Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled physical labor and other duties in the maintenance, repair, construction and clean-up of City parks, and facilities. Will be required to work weekends and/or holidays on occasion. This is a part-time, non-benefited position which consists of a 29-hour work week maximum. EDUCATION & EXPERIEN CE:
High School Diploma or GED, and any combination of training, education, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the functions of the position which includes knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, procedures, and standard practices used in the maintenance, repair, construction, and clean-up of City parks, facilities and drainage systems.
LICENSING & TRAINING:
Must possess a v alid drivers license prior to employment. Must also obtain the National Incident Management System (NIMS) training with FEMA, based on assignment.
*Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIO NS :

The employee works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to extremely hot weather, wet and/or humid conditions, and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

- Prepares manicures and maintains sports fields for play including watering, dragging, lining, tamping, and raking. Sports may include, but are not limited to, soccer, football, baseball and softball.
- Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled duties in the maintenance, construction, and repair of City right of-ways, parks, and drainage systems.
- Performs general clean-up work which may include sweeping and mopping of floors, emptying trash containers, washing windows, walls and sinks, restrooms; sweeping sand and debris from patios, slabs, walks, and play areas.
- Maintains right-of-ways in parks, clearing debris, cutting weeds, and cleaning ditches using required hand tools
- Operates a variety of trucks and equipment such as power tools: chain saws, concrete saws, air hammers, pavement breakers, tampers, and two-way radio in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
- Works with assigned crew, removing weeds, clearing debris, clean ditches and maintaining landscaping, etc.
- Assists in installing, operating, maintaining, and repairing sprinkler systems.
- Completes required daily logs and reports.
- Picks up trash and checks trash cans throughout the City.
- Performs routine maintenance to assigned recreation equipment; buildings.
- May be required to perform daily vehicle inspections and clean and wash equipment.
- Complies with and promotes safe practices in agreement with the safety rules and procedures set forth.
- Performs related work as required.
- Represents the City with respect, confidence and trust that our colleagues and community place in us.
KNOWLEDG E OF:

- Motorized vehicles and equipment, including but not limited to dump trucks, end loaders, asphalt paver, backhoes, tractors, motor grader, pickup truck, utility truck, tamper, plate compactor, saws, pumps, compressors, sanders, generators, common hand and power tools such as rakes, shovels, brooms, mops, wrenches, detection devices, mobile radio, phone, ditch witch, and small hand tools such as trimmers, hammers, etc.
- Frequent use of power equipment such as mowers, trimmers, small motorized vehicles and other tools.
SKILL IN:
- Safe and efficient operation of required tools and equipment according to standard operating and safety procedures .
