Quality Operation Supervisor
Location: Flint, MI
Contract: 12-month with possible extension or direct hire
Schedule: MondayFriday, with two Saturdays per month
Shifts Available:
- 2nd Shift: 2:30 PM 11:00 PM
- 3rd Shift: 10:30 PM 7:00 AM
Compensation: $40$45/hour, with optional PTO, paid holidays, and benefits
Onboarding Requirements: Background check and Fit-to-Work physical
Position Summary
This hybrid role combines maintenance supervision with quality operations oversight. The candidate will lead UAW hourly employees during their shift, ensuring safety and quality compliance, addressing defects, and maintaining efficient production in a high-paced automotive setting. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with excellent communication skills and prior experience in automotive manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise skilled trades and hourly team members in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Enforce corporate safety standards and housekeeping protocols
- Lead resolution of equipment failures and process deviations; escalate vehicle quality defects
- Monitor quality gates and ensure consistent application of standard work during inspections
- Utilize GSIP and other internal systems to manage defect data and escalate as necessary
- Conduct daily business deployment board reviews, track KPIs, and support shift communication
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and other departments in cross-functional reviews
- Manage documentation and timely communication across shifts and departments
- Ensure compliance with labor agreements and promote a positive team culture
- Train, coach, and evaluate team members as needed
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of automotive manufacturing experience
- Stable work history; frequent job changes may disqualify candidates
- Strong leadership and communication skills, particularly in working with UAW employees
- Ability to work night shifts and occasional Saturdays
- Physical stamina; extensive walking on the production floor required
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office, GSIP, and other internal systems)
- Ability to read blueprints and diagnose mechanical/electrical issues is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical training in a skilled trade or engineering field
- Experience supervising a multi-trade workforce
- Familiarity with paint, trim, or general assembly operations
- Knowledge of internal quality and maintenance systems
