General Maintenance Mechanic - Denver, CO EML has an immediate Full-Time opening for an experienced General Maintenance Mechanic for our government contract site at the Byron Rogers Courthouse building in Denver, CO. SUMMARY Primarily responsible for general maintenance and repair of government-owned equipment and buildings. Requires practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Replaces/Repairs electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, lamps, ballasts, and motors.
- Various plumbing related repairs and service, such as repair or replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
- Performs general maintenance on buildings, equipment, and machinery.
- Uses plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
- Paints structures and equipment.
- Replaces or repairs concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
- Replaces damaged paneling and floor tiles.
- Hangs/Repairs doors, install/repair/replace door locks & closers on interior, exterior and overhead doors, and replaces broken window panes.
- Other duties and shifts as required by the company may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Must possess at least 5 years of recent (within the past 7 years) experience in the general operation and maintenance of equipment and systems in commercial facilities comparable in complexity to systems covered by this contract. The successful candidate will be expected to be highly driven and be a capable self-starter who can work with minimal supervision. A valid driver's license with a safe driving record is also expected. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
