Position Overview:

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the plant's equipment operates safely, at the highest capacity, with the highest possible on-stream time, for the lowest long-term cost of ownership. The Maintenance Engineer will also manage projects, guide and instruct maintenance technicians, coordinate contractors, and plan/coordinate daily maintenance activities to meet production goals.

What you will be doing:

  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures relating to Process safety and Mechanical Integrity Program (MI) (60% of the time).
  • To monitor, manage and support process control and instrumented safety technology within the plant (40% of the time).
  • Serve as first point of contact for DCS and PLC interlock/control issues.
  • Ensure PSM/RMP requirements are met for the Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) at Baytown. Including but not limited to testing and procedures.
  • Support PHA process through implementation of application solutions to indicate known risks.
  • Support the Process Information (PI) system to ensure environmental compliance records are maintained.
  • Lead, execute, maintain, and improve Reliability programs, e.g., lubrication, vibration Respond to equipment failures and participate in planning and execution of repairs.
  • Participate in Root Cause Failure Analyses equipment failures according to Eco Services' guidelines.
  • Be custodian for the mechanical Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Actively participate in plant's HSE activities and training.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience. Mechanical engineering preferred.
  • 3-5 + years of relevant maintenance and reliability experience, preferably in chemical, petrochemical, or refinery production plants with emphasis on planning, scheduling, and executing maintenance activities.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable HSE procedures/practices such as Permit to Work, Energy Isolation, Respiratory Protection, PPE, Emergency Response
  • PM planning and execution.
  • API, ASME, ANSI Codes and Standards
  • Formal Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) training/certification
  • SAP experience
  • Strong knowledge of applicable HSE procedures/practices such as Permit to Work, Energy Isolation, Respiratory Protection, PPE, Emergency Response
  • Proven analytical troubleshooting/problem-solving skills; able to apply them to assess and improve equipment reliability.
  • Strong, clear, and concise communication (written and verbal).
  • Competent computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office programs and databases.
  • Team player able to build productive and positive working relationships with cross-functional teams.
  • Works well under pressure - ability to meet tight deadlines with quality results.
