Lakeland Central School District is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic - Buildings. This employee must hold this non-competitive civil service title or meet the minimum qualifications. This employee performs a wide variety of skilled work in the repair, maintenance and servicing of school district buildings and facilities. Some examples of work would be to replace & rebuild stairways, roofs, steps, railings, and floors. Also performs routine plumbing maintenance, repair & installation work such as repairing and replacing plumbing fixtures. Performs routine electrical maintenance, such as repairing and/or replacing electrical fixtures, installing simple electrical circuits, and small heating systems under the supervision of a licensed electrician. Minimum acceptable training and experience: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four (4) years of experience in building and mechanical installation, maintenance or repair work. Substitutions: An Associate's Degree in Applied Science or possession of a certificate from a post-secondary vocational school in building or mechanical trades may be substituted for two (2) years of the work experience described above. NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, only experience gained after attaining the minimum education level indicated in the minimum qualifications will be considered in evaluating experience. *SPECIAL NOTE: Education beyond the secondary level must be from an institution recognized or accredited by the Board of Regents of the New York State Department of Education as a post-secondary, degree-granting institution. Hours: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm. M-F. This is a 12-month position. Salary: $53,614 - $83,333
