Maintenance Manager

Job Description:

Global MX is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee operations at our FAA Part 145 certified repair station located in the Northeast United States. The ideal candidate will lead maintenance activities for both general aviation aircraft and business jets, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.

We are an established FAA Part 145 repair station serving the Northeast United States, specializing in maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for general aviation aircraft (Cessna, Piper) and business jets (Gulfstream, Bombardier, Cessna, Dassault). Our facility maintains aircraft operating under 14 CFR Parts 91, 121, and 135.

Essential Functions

Operations Management

Manage maintenance planning and production schedules

Direct daily maintenance activities and workflow

Assess project requirements and provide precise cost estimates for incoming work, ensuring alignment with budget constraints.

Prioritize maintenance tasks based on urgency and available budget to ensure critical work is completed without exceeding the budget.

Ensure that all quotes and work orders align with the contractual budget and scope guidelines.

Review and approve maintenance documentation and work orders

Monitor department KPIs and productivity metrics

Oversee equipment and facility maintenance

Personnel Management

Supervise maintenance staff, leads, and supervisors

Coordinate personnel assignments and work schedules

Manage workforce planning, training, and development of maintenance personnel

Ensure proper staffing levels and skill mix

Conduct performance evaluations

Quality and Safety

Collaborate with Quality Control department to maintain repair station standards

Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures

Participate in safety committees and investigations

Implement corrective actions and process improvements

Maintain SMS (Safety Management System) requirements

Financial Management

Control labor costs and overtime

Prepare inbound maintenance forecasts

Analyze costs and implement efficiency improvements

Customer Relations

Interface with clients on technical matters

Manage customer expectations and deadlines

Resolve customer concerns and complaints

Develop and maintain client relationships

Job Requirements:

FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License

Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management or related field preferred

Minimum 7 years aviation maintenance experience

3+ years supervisory experience in Part 145 environment

Comprehensive knowledge of FAA regulations (Parts 43, 65, 91, 121, 135, and 145)

Strong understanding of maintenance planning and production control

Strong leadership and team-building abilities

Excellent project management capabilities

Proficient in maintenance tracking software

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite

Excellent written and verbal communication

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

Capable of working in hangar environment

Extended periods of standing and walking

Visual acuity for document review and computer work

Work Environment

Aircraft hangar and office setting

Exposure to typical aviation maintenance environment

Variable schedule including some evenings and weekends

On-call availability for AOG situations

Travel may be required (10-15%)
