Maintenance Mechanic Job Description As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will play a pivotal role in installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment essential to our operations. You will adhere to blueprints, schematic drawings, operations manuals, and manufacturer's specifications to ensure optimal performance. Your expertise will be crucial in diagnosing malfunctions, servicing, repairing, and replacing defective parts, as well as performing routine maintenance tasks to keep production machinery running smoothly. Responsibilities Repair and maintain plant machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams and manufacturer's specifications. Analyze and diagnose production machinery malfunctions; service, repair, and replace defective parts using hand tools and power tools. Operate and repair equipment safely to minimize risks to personnel and prevent damage to equipment and inventory. Maintain sanitary conditions while performing maintenance work. Calibrate and adjust production machinery to enhance operational capabilities using hand tools. Provide technical assistance to the production department during equipment set-up and changeovers. Perform preventive maintenance on machinery and document tasks in maintenance records. Identify and implement improvements to production methods by observing work processes. Modify machinery and equipment as directed by the Engineering Department to enhance functionality. Rebuild and install functional parts of production machinery. Collaborate with outside vendors to improve in-house maintenance capabilities. Assist the Engineering Department in implementing and modifying maintenance programs. Maintain and service external components of the dust collection system. Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Skills Mechanical aptitude with a basic understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical and piping systems. Ability to identify, understand, and make repairs or improvements to mechanical components. Knowledge of various machines, their operation, and parts. Skill in using work-related tools and understanding their design and repair. Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose work process issues using job-specific knowledge. Effective communication skills for training new mechanics and operators. Ability to read and understand operational diagrams, schematics, and manuals. Capability to organize and manage multiple tasks concurrently. Possession of a high school diploma or GED. Forklift certification required within 60 days of employment. Prior industrial maintenance experience is beneficial. Additional Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules related to mechanical/electrical systems. Ability to effectively train and instruct new mechanics and operators. Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, power transmissions, lubrication, pumps, pipe rigging, mechanical maintenance, operation of shop machines, and combustion. Understanding of basic AC and DC theory, schematics, and print reading. On-site training specific to job responsibilities provided. Why Work Here?
