Nature of Work Thisis semi-skilled plumbing work including assisting in installing, repairing andmaintaining water, irrigation and waste systems in and on various City-owned orleased properties. Employees in thisclass perform a variety of tasks requiring a practical knowledge of theplumbing trade. Assignments are made bywritten or oral instructions. Moredifficult work is performed under supervision, but employees may workindependently on more routine maintenance and repair tasks. The work responsibilitiesof this position are: troubleshooting and repairing plumbing or irrigationfixtures; assisting in installing new plumbing or irrigation in newconstruction and renovation projects; replacing/installing new plumbing orirrigation fixtures; assisting in maintaining city fountains, swimming poolsand irrigation systems. Work isinspected in process and upon completion for workmanship and satisfactoryoperation of systems. Supervision isreceived from a Plumber II or III. Employee reports to Mechanical TradesSupervisor or District Parks Maintenance Supervisor. Minimum Qualifications Highschool diploma or G.E.D., and one (1) year experience assisting in installing,maintaining and repairing plumbing or irrigation systems.NOTE :Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisiteknowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered. Special Requirements Abilityto obtain and maintain a valid Alabama driver's license. Ability to be on-call24 hours for emergencies and/or special events. Kind of Examination
