Job Summary
Responsible for directing, and coordinating programs and procedures that maintain buildings, grounds, equipment, and central power sources to ensure safe and efficient hospital operation. Employee may access secure medication supply areas to complete assigned job duties.
Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate programs and personnel in maintaining buildings, grounds, equipment, and central power sources to ensure safe and efficient hospital operation.
- Advise administration and other staff concerning alteration of facilities, installation of new equipment, and cost of renovation ensuring the economy and feasibility of such plans.
- Participate with Capital Project Management Team architects and other engineers in formulating workable plans and specifications for new construction and remodeling.
- Evaluate requests for repair, replacement, and/or relocation of existing equipment.
- Ensure preventative maintenance work is completed in a timely manner to the required quality level, which includes periodic building and equipment inspection.
- Assume responsibility for training oversight and certification tracking personnel matters within the department
- Develop specifications for equipment purchases, renovations, and repairs.
- Ensure the hospital stays in compliance with applicable requirements (Fire Marshal, Health Dept, accrediting body, etc) Compile and maintain regulatory compliance data in electronic and written formats. E.G. Fire Life Safety, Generator, Medical Gases
- Request copies of reports following Fire Alarm and Sprinkler testing, review same
- Conduct and report on accrediting body findings monthly audits
- Manage work order reporting, including follow up on work orders, including tracking delays in receipt of materials
- Perform quality audits on completed work orders
- Approve Purchase Order requests up to $2,000 and comply with budget restrictions
- Track energy related purchases for rebate purposes and communicate to Energy Manager
- Meet with accrediting bodyand Life safety Auditors to present regulatory compliance documentation, be prepared to answer detailed questions
- Ensure Safety Audits and Safety Meetings occur on a regular basis
- Review Safety Training and Technical Training completion certificates, track for accrediting body
- Maintain department, institution, and licensure (if applicable) required education. Document appropriately.
- Responsible for integrating continuous, quality improvement into department and institution operations, and demonstrate a commitment to the process.
- Support and assist employee participation in the continuous, quality improvement processes.
- Reinforce employee understanding of work integration with other departments throughout the institution.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
