Bayhealth Medical Center is Central and Southern Delaware's healthcare leader with hospitals in Dover and Milford, as well as stand-alone Emergency Department in Smyrna and a hybrid Emergency Department and Urgent Care in Milton. General Summary:
The General Maintenance Worker performs a variety of general routine services to repair and maintain hospital mechanical equipment, furnishings, and fixtures, ensuring integrity and functionality.
Department team members are authorized to have limited access to secured medication rooms to perform duties and responsibilities as defined in this job description. Any staff member requiring limited access to secured medication rooms must have a fully completed and signed Medication Security Agreement for Non-Licensed Personnel form on file and available upon request.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure the condition of hospital mechanical equipment, utility systems, furnishings and fixtures are safe and operational. Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and complete minor repairs to minimize equipment failures and unplanned work requests.
2. Respond to normal and emergency maintenance requests.
3. Perform minor electrical wiring and repairs as needed.
4. Maintain general mechanical equipment and systems in the highest ready state.
5. Maintain safe exterior walking surfaces by assisting with snow removal.
6. Ensure safe work practices by performing daily tasks as safely as possible, wear proper PPE and perform lockout/tagout where required.
7. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities
