This facility operates five days a week, with overtime potential, and produces Bacon and Bacon Toppings.
This will be a M-F 7a-3:30p, but flexibility to cover other times/shifts, as requested by the Manager.
Role Overview: The Refrigeration Maintenance Mechanic will ensure the safe and efficient operation, perform preventative maintenance tasks, conduct inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs of the manufacturing plant's refrigeration system, ammonia system, air compressors, and hot water system.
Key Responsibilities:
Assure that all safety precautions and health hazards with ammonia are followed per Tyson requirements.
Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local agencies, including but not limited to OSHA and the EPA.
Maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair the following:
HOWDEN, SULLAIR, & MYCOM Ammonia Compressors, condensers, valve stations.
Heat exchangers, pump packages, liquid ammonia pumps.
Air units, refrigeration PLC, and all control components.
Boilers.
Air Compressors.
Hot Water System.
Maintain these components in the best operating condition to provide adequate temperatures required by Food Industry Standards.
Participate as an Emergency Response Team Member.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Ability to understand and follow specific verbal and written instructions and procedures.
Effective communication skills, including specification/technical writing skills.
Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs.
Completion of all required training for the job.
Experience working with Anhydrous Ammonia systems, including mechanical & electrical repairs (Ammonia Response Training preferred).
Ability to obtain SCBA certification and use a fully encapsulated chemical suit in an emergency.
Ability to wear a Respirator (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus).
Ability to pass IIAR Training modules for ammonia refrigeration.
PSM experience.
Experience with ammonia systems is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements: The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Must be willing and able to lift/push/pull up to 75lbs.
Ability to walk or stand on hard floors for 8-12 hour days.
Regularly required to stand, stoop, climb ladders, change work levels, twist, squat, climb stairs, reach, push, pull, and move about the facility.
Ability to move from one area of production to another.
Ability to work in a cold, damp to hot environment.
Qualifications
Minimum of one (1) year of maintenance work experience documented in the work history section the application OR be a graduate of an industrial maintenance training program. Can be a combination of employers, as long as experience documented is at least one (1) year: must have PSM experience.
