JOB SUMMARY:

This position assists treatment plant operators and maintenance staff with daily maintenance and operation at the assigned treatment facility. This position performs scheduled preventative maintenance on various mechanical and process equipment throughout the plants. This position operates landscaping equipment on the plant site, unloads delivered materials, assists in maintaining plant grounds, and performs housekeeping duties as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Assist operations with duties such as process equipment calibrations, bulk chemical receiving and off-loading, and taking process samples.

Assist with maintaining bulk chemical and fuel tank levels by placing orders for products as required or necessary.

Assist with certain regulatory requirements such as completing fire security inspections and stormwater facility inspections.

Manages recycling and dumpster materials and prepares appropriate reports and manifests as needed.

Performs light maintenance duties such as painting equipment, buildings, and curbs, changing light fixtures, making small repairs to plant treatment equipment, and other building maintenance duties; Assists in maintaining small mechanical equipment.

Facility maintenance which includes cleaning of treatment tanks, basins, floors, walkways, grounds, etc.

Assists in scheduling, following up, and transporting plant vehicles for necessary maintenance and inspections.

Runs various errands as needed such as picking up maintenance or laboratory supplies.

Operates plant landscaping equipment and performs housekeeping duties as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

Requires a valid drivers license with the ability to obtain a City Driving Permit.

High school diploma/GED required.

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:

Requires Class C drivers license.

Requires eligibility to obtain a City Driving Permit.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Computer skills with the ability to work with various software.

Experience with industrial building maintenance.

Must have good oral/written communication skills and organizational skills.

Ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions.

Requires the ability to work cooperatively with other employees and external vendors.

Ability to work independently and prioritize work duties.

Ability to operate equipment such as loaders, skid steers, zero-turn mowers, bush hogs, weed trimmers, chain saws, and other equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work is medium work and requires applying 30 pounds of force frequently and exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crouching, feeling, manual dexterity, grasping, handling, perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, distinguishing among sounds, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, expressing ideas by spoken word, shouting above noises, visual activity in data/color/observations/equipment/inspections, and walking.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in an environment with heavy equipment and machinery that could result in bodily harm to co-workers or others. Requires working indoors/outdoors; during inclement weather; around chemicals, solvents, and dust in an industrial environment; and working weekends and holidays as assigned.
