Job Summary
This position is responsible for assisting the plumbing supervisor and overseeing grounds maintenance activities for the university.
Responsibilities
Installs, maintains, and repairs campus plumbing systems. (60%)
Assists in troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning plumbing systems.
Unclogs drains, Repairs leaks.
Assists in maintaining and repairing dining hall and kitchen equipment.
Supervises grounds maintenance activities. (30%)
Assists in supervising the maintenance of campus grounds including existing landscape maintenance.
Assists in maintaining and repairing grounds maintenance equipment.
Assists in supervising the staff and coordinates the work of an inmate detail.
Performs other duties as assigned. (10%)
Required Qualifications
- More than two years of related experience preferred.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid drivers license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Possession of a State of Georgia Journeyman Plumbing License is a bonus but is not required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of plumbing system installation, repair and maintenance.
- Knowledge of relevant construction codes.
- Knowledge of the tools and equipment used in the installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems.
- Knowledge of grounds maintenance principles and practices.
- Knowledge of the operation, repair, and maintenance of grounds maintenance equipment.
- Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
- Skill in diagnostic troubleshooting.
- Skill in the operation of job-related tools, vehicles and equipment.
- Skill in supervising staff.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
