Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting the plumbing supervisor and overseeing grounds maintenance activities for the university.

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains, and repairs campus plumbing systems. (60%)

• Assists in troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning plumbing systems.

• Unclogs drains, Repairs leaks.

• Assists in maintaining and repairing dining hall and kitchen equipment.

• Supervises grounds maintenance activities. (30%)

• Assists in supervising the maintenance of campus grounds including existing landscape maintenance.

• Assists in maintaining and repairing grounds maintenance equipment.

• Assists in supervising the staff and coordinates the work of an inmate detail.

• Performs other duties as assigned. (10%)

Required Qualifications

• More than two years of related experience preferred.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid drivers license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
• Possession of a State of Georgia Journeyman Plumbing License is a bonus but is not required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of plumbing system installation, repair and maintenance.
• Knowledge of relevant construction codes.
• Knowledge of the tools and equipment used in the installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems.
• Knowledge of grounds maintenance principles and practices.
• Knowledge of the operation, repair, and maintenance of grounds maintenance equipment.
• Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
• Skill in diagnostic troubleshooting.
• Skill in the operation of job-related tools, vehicles and equipment.
• Skill in supervising staff.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
