Assists with the installation, maintenance, and repairs of water lines, meters, and valves. Installs, repairs, inspects, and tests backflow prevention devices; locates water and wastewater lines; restores sidewalks, roads, and landscaping after completion of repairs. Employee will work in all kinds of weather conditions and is required to work where hazardous conditions exist. May be required to transport equipment as needed. Work is closely reviewed while in progress and upon completion through visual inspection by Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP)-licensed crew members, including Meter Service Technicians, Utility Line Crew Chiefs, and Supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of six (6) months of experience in general labor work.
Necessary Special Requirement: Must obtain a Backflow Prevention Certification within 11 months of hire.
PREFERENCE FOR: Experience installing/repairing water meters; graduation from high school/equivalent recognized certification; Water Distribution/Wastewater Collection Certification (must specify on application).
Must be able to lift 75 pounds. Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.
