Maintenance Mechanic Job Description This role involves working within a metal manufacturing company, primarily on manual equipment, with some automated systems. The Maintenance Mechanic will troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on notching machines, sharpening tools, welders, and other facility equipment. The position aims to service, maintain, upgrade, and build new machinery, prioritizing safety, machine downtime, preventative maintenance, and equipment improvements. The role requires comfort with daily tasks that are 30% mechanical and 70% electrical. Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation, documenting tasks and parts used or replaced. Diagnose and repair mechanical assemblies, including bearings, belts, pulleys, and gears. Create replacement and prototype parts through machining and fabrication. Conduct preventative maintenance, repair, and assembly of small punch press dies and components. Manage storage and inventory of replacement parts and components. Analyze, install, and maintain water, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, repairing or replacing worn parts like gauges, valves, and piping. Troubleshoot machine control circuits, including switches, relays, fuses, indicators, and sensors. Diagnose motor failures using electrical test instruments such as multimeters and ammeters, and install dual-voltage motors. Essential Skills Minimum of 3 years experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment. Ability to read and understand drawings, diagrams, and schematics. Proficiency in maintenance techniques, preventative maintenance, fabrication, and industrial maintenance. Strong mechanical skills and troubleshooting abilities in mechanical, electrical, and PLC systems. Understanding of blueprints, hydraulics, pneumatics, and schematic interpretation. Experience with preventive maintenance and knowledge of Allen-Bradley, 3-phase systems, gearboxes, and pneumatic systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma or Technical School education preferred but not required. Why Work Here?
