Location: Gouverneur Hospital
Hours Per Week: 40 (With one week a month on call rotation)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7 am to 3:30 pm

SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the Lead Maintenance 2 worker applies advanced-level technical knowledge and skills of physical plant operations and engineering systems in the following areas: mechanical/HVAC systems, electrical/utility systems, plumbing, carpentry and construction in the performance of light construction, installation, general maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, equipment, machinery and utilities. The Lead Maintenance Worker 2 provides guidance to Plant Operations staff under the direction of the Plant Operations Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintenance/Construction: Performs general maintenance duties, and provides advanced-level knowledge and skill in defined plant operations/industrial maintenance areas of expertise for installation, preventive maintenance, repairs and light construction, as assigned, to include the following areas:

  • Mechanical/HVAC: Performs installation and repairs on mechanical equipment and machinery

  • Electrical & Utility Systems: Performs electrical installation and repair work in wiring for switches, outlets, plugs, cables, power circuits and appliances; repairs lighting systems; inspects electrical systems for unsafe conditions. Tests, operates, adjusts, maintains and repairs utility equipment, machinery, circuitry and transmittal devices per the manufacturers recommendations and as needed.

  • Plumbing: Identifies and performs basic repairs of plumbing leaks or breaks; opens clogged lines and drains; installs or replaces plumbing lines and fixtures; repairs/replaces hot water heaters.

  • Carpentry/Construction : Performs rough and finished carpentry work in construction and repair of structures such as partitions, walls, Ceilings, floors, doors and frames, windows and frames, fences, office furniture, roofs, and shelves. Including but not limited to:

  • Painting: Applies and prepares various surfaces for paint, enamel, lacquer, varnish, or stain; repairs wall coverings.

  • Glazier: Removes broken glass, putty or plastic; replaces windows and door hardware; replaces or arranges for replacement of glass for windows, doors, and light fixtures.

  • Masonry: Lays forms, mixes, pours, and finishes concrete for buildings, sidewalks and slabs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: High School diploma/GED

  • Experience: Three years of general maintenance experience in a facility maintenance environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Associates degree in applied technology or related construction/maintenance field or technical school or trade school training in one or more construction/maintenance fields preferred

  • Experience: Three years of Plant Operations and Maintenance experience in healthcare setting preferred

  • Knowledge of methods used in facility maintenance including basic knowledge of the following trades: mechanical/HVAC systems, electrical/utility systems, plumbing, carpentry/construction, grounds keeping

  • Intermediate understanding of standard practices and tools used in the maintenance and repair of building facilities; safety practices and procedures related to the building trades; basic math to add, subtract, multiply, and divide

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE:

$24.99 - $35.78

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
