NATURE OF WORK:
Under general direction, performs duties of average or above average
difficulty in the maintenance and construction of county roads and
related duties as required.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
The following list may not include all the duties required of this
position; loading and unloading of equipment and road materials; perform
labor jobs necessary in the maintenance of roads and facilities used in
the maintenance of roads. Operate various pieces of medium to heavy
equipment used in road maintenance; be proficient in the operation of
one piece of heavy equipment and understand its maintenance
requirements; perform shop duties such as tire repair, lubrication of
equipment and tools; may serve as lead man on particular assignments;
relief operator on various equipment when needed; performs other duties
as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Basic knowledge of the operation of all equipment with advanced
knowledge on at least one particular piece of heavy equipment; basic
knowledge of the principles of the maintenance needs of all equipment
with extensive knowledge of the particular piece of heavy equipment they
operate; knowledge of the safe operation of all equipment; basic
knowledge of the overall operations of the particular road yard they
work in.
Ongoing development in operating skills of all equipment and in the
dealing with the customers we serve.
Ability to follow oral or written instructions; ability to perform
moderate to heavy physical labor; ability to work well with other team
members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in road
construction and maintenance work and the safe operation of related
equipment.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of current Arizona Commercial Driver License, Class A.
(This classification is FLSA NON-EXEMPT)
This position pays \$18.65 per hour.
