Job Description


Position Summary
The Maintenance Engineer role performs engineering functions within the maintenance department to optimize machine operating time. The scope of work involves reducing the failure rate of equipment & machinery, optimizing equipment maintainability, extending equipment life, and introducing engineering solutions that expedite maintenance services while improving operator effectiveness.

Position Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and implement mechatronic solutions for production equipment to resolve maintenance and repair issues on a diverse range of equipment to ensure optimum operating conditions and carry out project work orders assigned.
Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes and work cooperatively.
Develop/document Maintenance processes.
Collaborate to develop and standardize reports for performance and KPIs to drive downtime below 10%.
Provide detailed technical reports to the maintenance supervisor breakdown root causes, equipment faults.
Work with planners on developing work plans for major PMs.
Develop, review and conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM), providing recommendations for improvements where needed.
Audit PMs on running and down days (roughly 2 weekend days per month) to ensure PM quality.
Troubleshoot and perform repair work using fabrication skills, including manual, equipment and assembling.
Participate, review and drive next steps for improvement from annual audits.
Update files related to improvements and modifications as well as daily maintenance work, inventory use of service parts for equipment and scheduled preventative maintenance tasks.
Assist with recruiting efforts for Maintenance Technicians with local high schools and technical schools.
Develop and deliver general and machine specific sills assessment and training plans for Maintenance teams across the site.
Install production and facilities equipment and modify as necessary using layouts, diagrams, schematics, etc. to improve efficiency and our reliability.
Work with parts/supply teams to manage spare parts for each area.
Inspect subcontracted service providers, as directed.
Maintain tools and equipment in optimal condition.
Assure proper safety techniques and equipment are used to promote and ensure safety.

Essential Skills and Experience
Bachelors Degree and 3+ years of experience in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil engineering along with demonstrated experience using AutoCAD, data analysis, project
management, and root cause analysis.
Demonstrated experience diagnosing and troubleshooting process and equipment
problems and preparing procedures, technical bulletins, and equipment specifications.
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering skills, including machine safety and ergonomics
Reinforces Operational Excellence, Lean methods and tools, deep understanding of
continuous improvement
Excellent communication, reporting and networking skills; able to interact with senior
stakeholders
Demonstrated leader in a manufacturing environment (project management experience
preferred); capable of evaluating and weighing alternatives, establishing priorities, and
making decisions
Able to stand for extended periods of time and sometimes work in confined spaces
Demonstrated intermediate proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and AutoCAD.
