Maintenance Specialist - Painter

Overview Provides maintenance and/or repairs to the agency buildings and ground, as well as to the organizations equipment/appliances. Must be able to perform with limited supervision, accept responsibilities, initiate problem solving and/or decision-making and independently complete assignments. Responsibilities Primary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: Perform specialized paint related work such as sheet rocking, spackling, taping, plastering and wall prep to maintain the agencies houses, apartments and buildings. Report and record work orders electronically. Plan in advance, anticipate problems and integrate job-related information into projects. Perform preventive maintenance at all locations; seasonal maintenance as required which includes snow removal and other weather related responsibilities. Perform duties as requested to promote favorable appearance of agency property. Installs new equipment, appliances, fixtures and furniture as needed. Performs other related duties as requested by supervisor. This position requires regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact with people receiving services and therefore, is subject to successful completion of fingerprint/criminal background check. Lead Mechanic is required to ensure that work-related safety procedures are in place and are being adhered to by staff. Observance of an unsafe act or potentially hazardous work environment must be immediately reported to supervisor and/or safety committee. Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent Required. General maintenance experience preferred. Specific knowledge of painting trade and painting experience required. Valid and Qualified NYS driver's license required.
