FLSA: Non-exempt Starting Minimum Pay: $20.00/Hr DOQ DEFINITION: Under direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, to perform semi-skilled labor in the construction, maintenance and repair of streets, drainage ditches and culverts. EQUIPMENT: The City of Seven Points uses John Deere front end loader and backhoe, John Deere Mini-excavator, 56K 12 yard dump truck, 37K equipment trailer, John Deere tractor with boom mower, Ford Tractor/bushhog, Chevrolet 2500 mini-dump truck, dual grade laser BENEFITS: We offer worker's compensation, Texas Municipal Retirement System, eye and vision care insurance and life insurance. QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: 1) Methods and techniques of general construction, maintenance and repair related to the area of work assigned. 2) Hand tools and equipment associated with the construction, maintenance and repair related to the area of work assigned. 3) Safe operation, care and appearance of city vehicles and/or equipment. 4) Safety precautions and practices necessary when working with vehicles and equipment. 5) Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations. Skills: 1) Skills to drive/operate a variety of City equipment and vehicles including the aforementioned equipment. 2) Skills in road maintenance and road rehabilitation and construction. Ability to: 1) Follow instructions and operate tractor/mower and other maintenance vehicles. 2) Accept training and supervision in a willing and pleasant manner. 3) Follow the practices and common rules of safety in the work place. 4) Hear clearly when working around equipment and in traffic, using proper safety precautions. 5) Communicate effectively and courteously with the public and other city employees. 6) See, read, speak and understand written or verbal instructions. 7) Carry out oral and written direction. 8) Learn to perform a variety of maintenance, construction and repair work. 9) Learn basic techniques of carpentry, plumbing, painting, welding and maintenance and repair. 10) Learn techniques of concrete finishing and repair. 11) Operate a variety of vehicular and stationary mechanical equipment in a safe and effective manner. 12) Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods of time and in unfavorable weather conditions. 13) Perform heavy manual labor. 14) Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. 15) Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: -- Walking or standing for extended periods of time -- Operating assigned equipment. 16) Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for: -- Making observations -- Communicating with others -- Operating assigned equipment and vehicles.

Qualifications:

REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a commercial driver s license (CDL) to operate needed equipment, must have a driving record that is insurable through Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool Insurance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

1) Operate construction and maintenance equipment and power tools including, but not limited to, the aforementioned equipment,

2) Operate dump truck (CDL required) for hauling, excavation, filling ditches, placing culvert pipe and setting grade,

3) Installs street barricades and cones prior to the performance of street repair activities; directs and controls traffic around work sites.

4) Fills pot holes in streets; makes and installs traffic signs.

5) Operates tractor/mower to keep rights-of-way clean; removes paper from rights-of-way

6) Drives city trucks and equipment as instructed.

7) Maintains a shop that is clean, orderly, and in safe working condition; sorts tools and materials.

8) Utilizes proper safety precautions related to all work performed.
