Provide general maintenance support throughout the hospital.
Responsibilities- Installs, and provides preventive maintenance inspections and repairs.
- Repairs devices related to patient care, staff and visitors’ comfort. These devices include; but not limited to:
- Cabinetry, light fixtures, carts, patient beds, towel and soap dispensers.
- Devices for transportation and repose of patients.
- Devices regulating medical gasses and vacuum.
- Measuring devices (exam room/doctors’ scopes).
- Troubleshoot aforementioned devices as required.
- Make rounds as assigned by Supervisor or Crew Leader and documents findings.
- Required to assist or perform supervised duties on systems relating to heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning.
- Perform equipment preventive maintenance.
- Perform medical gas outlet testing and reports findings to Supervisor.
- May be required to assist or perform general maintenance tasks related to other departmental shops or tasks necessary to maintain normal, consistent operation of equipment and spaces coming under the jurisdiction of the Engineering Department.
- In case of emergency, the employee must perform other duties necessary to ensure the welfare of patients, staff, visitors, and the efficient operation of the Medical Center. The Supervisor will assign these duties.
- Act as a member of the Fire Brigade.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in general maintenance tasks, heating, ventilating, air-conditioning, compressors, fluid moving equipment, utilization devices, and engines.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to fully utilize BHMC’s electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.
Physical Requirements:
- Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
- Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
