Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the service, repair, and preventative maintenance of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. This role is responsible for managing daily shop operations, supervising technicians, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and maintaining fleet availability and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of diesel technicians and mechanics across multiple shifts or service bays.
Oversee scheduling and execution of preventative and corrective maintenance for all diesel trucks, heavy machinery, and support vehicles.
Develop and implement maintenance procedures, work order systems, and inventory controls to reduce downtime and maximize fleet efficiency.
Monitor vehicle and equipment performance, ensuring adherence to safety standards and DOT regulations.
Manage vendor relationships and procurement of parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, costs, and service history using fleet maintenance software.
Support diagnostic and troubleshooting efforts for complex mechanical and electronic issues.
Collaborate with operations and logistics to align maintenance schedules with business needs.
Train and mentor maintenance staff on safety protocols, equipment updates, and repair best practices.
Prepare budgets and manage costs associated with labor, materials, and outside services.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or technical degree in diesel technology or related field preferred.
5+ years of experience in diesel maintenance, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, braking systems, DEF systems, and diagnostic software.
Experience managing shop operations, work order systems, and technician scheduling.
Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, and environmental safety regulations.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficiency with fleet management software (e.g., Fleetio, RTA, Maintenance Connection) is a plus.
Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
Preferred Certifications:
ASE Certification in Diesel Engines or Truck Equipment
OSHA 10 or 30-Hour Certification
EPA Section 609 (HVAC)
