Avionics/Electrical Maintenance Technician

New Orleans, AL

Contract Position

$35.89-$43.93/Hour

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, remove, install, and upgrade aircraft avionics and electrical components.

  • Perform daily, pre-flight, post-flight, and periodic inspections to ensure aircraft safety and mission readiness.

  • Execute flight operation activities, including launch, recovery, and plane captain duties.

  • Assemble, disassemble, and modify aerospace systems to resolve faults or implement system updates.

  • Troubleshoot complex pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems to isolate and repair issues.

  • Conduct validation and verification testing of systems and components.

  • Ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory standards through proper documentation (repairs, test results, modifications, etc.).

  • Inspect components and verify repairs meet flightworthiness requirements.

  • Provide training and technical oversight to junior team members.

  • Adhere to safety protocols and promote quality-first practices across all maintenance activities.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; equivalent military or vocational training accepted.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in military fighter aircraft maintenance.

  • At least 1 year of experience reading and interpreting technical publications, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).

  • Willingness to work variable shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends) as mission needs dictate.

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.

  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and environments with loud noise and exhaust exposure.

  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in fighter aircraft avionics/electrical modifications.

    • F/A-18 AT/AE platform qualifications.

    • Familiarity with U.S. Navy 4790.1 maintenance requirements.
