General Maintenance Technician

Perform a variety of general skilled work including but not limited to basic plumbing, basic HVAC troubleshooting, basic electrical troubleshooting, light bulb changes, light carpentry, basic painting skills, pool maintenance and drywall repairs. Staff member will receive service ticket work or be directed by a Supervisor on what tasks are to be accomplished daily. Working hours are typically Monday- Friday 8 AM - 430 PM with occasional overtime as needed to fulfill maintenance requirements or emergency repairs. Staff member will be expected to participate in the Facilities Department on-call program. Staff member will be required to work pre and post duty schedules as directed for hurricane or summer operations.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform a variety of general skilled and unskilled maintenance, construction and repair work on buildings and equipment.
  • Answer service tickets as assigned, work from oral and written instructions.
  • Utilize the service ticket electronic system using assigned i-pad. Assist trades with preventative maintenance tasks and
    documentation.
  • Work independently on assigned tasks or assist other trades as directed. Must demonstrate flexibility in daily duty assignments and be able to switch tasks as directed to support Department needs.
  • Perform basic pool maintenance tasks to include brushing, taking water samples or other activities as directed.
  • Comply with safety directives. Complete directed safety training. Use all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Emergency preparedness and support as directed.
  • Participate in the Facilities Department on-call program.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements Include:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 30 hour OSHA Certification, preferred
  • State of Florida driver's license and ability to maintain a good driving record defined by Florida Tech's insurance company
  • Pool maintenance certification preferred.
  • EPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience

Annual Security & Fire Safety Report

The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requires colleges and universities, both public and private, participating in federal student aid programs to disclose campus safety information and impose certain basic requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations.

Florida Techs 2024 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Florida Tech, and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.

The numbers provided include crime statistics reported to local law enforcement agencies, campus security and other Campus Security Authorities.

The report also includes institutional policy statements regarding campus safety and security measures, descriptions of prevention and awareness programs, related university procedures and important guidance, and other essential safety information.

Official Transcripts
