The City of Santa Clarita is recruiting for multiple part-time, temporary, seasonal (PTS) Maintenance Worker Is with the Facilities Maintenance division. This position performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks related to the care and maintenance of City facilities and equipment.
This position may work up to 32 hours per week, Monday Thursday or Tuesday Friday, 6:30 a.m. 3:00 p.m.
Duties and Responsibilities
Completes daily tasks related to janitorial maintenance of City facilities, including trash collection and emptying trash cans
Performs restroom upkeep at parks and City facilities, including opening, cleaning, and restocking restrooms; cleans facilities as necessary, such as pressure washing public areas
Performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance duties, including painting, fence repair, changing light bulbs, pressure washing, and maintaining and repairing playground and fitness equipment
Assists with minor plumbing issues, such as flush valve replacement
Assists with lock maintenance, such as door handle replacements
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED equivalent
Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license and safe driving record is required
Six months of experience in a maintenance field (for example: building maintenance, park maintenance, equipment repair, etc.) or other related experience
Experience with trailer towing is highly desirable
Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary will be considered
Knowledge and AbilitiesAbility to work up to 32 hours per week, Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Knowledge of practices and principles of general and building maintenance and use of equipment
Ability to operate various small power tools, janitorial, pressure washing equipment and other equipment used in the performance of building maintenance
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Strong team player and the ability to work both independently and as part of a work group
Strong customer service and follow-up skills and the ability to provide excellent customer service to City staff and the public
Positive attitude and self-motivated
Ability to follow proper safety protocol and pay strict attention to safety at all times
Ability to work outdoors and in inclement weather
This position requires physical labor, including the ability to bend, squat, lift, and carry and push tools, equipment, and supplies weighing 50 pounds or more

In addition, part-time, temporary, and seasonal (PTS) employees may be required to participate in the DMV Employer Pull-Notice Program. This program authorizes the City to receive a driver record report upon enrollment and during employment.
This is not a designated Retired Annuitant position. If you are a California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) retiree, you may be required to reinstate into CalPERS.
PTS workers are at-will. Generally, PTS employees are limited to no more than 999 hours per fiscal year.
