Carpenter/Building Maintenance Mechanic
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Carpenter with specialized knowledge in multiple building maintenance trades. This versatile professional will handle a wide range of facility maintenance and repair tasks, combining carpentry expertise with additional skills in locksmithing, ceiling systems, drywall installation/repair, and basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform skilled carpentry work including construction, installation, and repair of building structures and fixtures
- Install, maintain, and repair various locking mechanisms and door hardware
- Install, repair, and replace ceiling tiles and grid systems
- Complete drywall installation, finishing, and repairs
- Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs on electrical systems (within code limitations)
- Address routine plumbing issues and repairs
- Conduct preventative maintenance on HVAC systems and perform basic repairs
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications for various construction and repair projects
- Maintain accurate records of work completed
- Ensure compliance with building codes, health and safety regulations
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a carpenter with proven multi-trade knowledge
- Technical training or certification in carpentry required
- Demonstrated experience in locksmithing, ceiling systems, and drywall installation
- Working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
- Ability to use and maintain hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various positions
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Locksmith certification or equivalent experience preferred
