Job Summary :

Performs a variety of tasks to ensure the LEC facility is functionally and cosmetically maintained and running smoothly in order to protect LEC assets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Mow grassy areas around LEC, as well as trim weeds and clean sidewalks
  • Responsible for following all OSHA safety guidelines and procedures
  • Responsible for snow removal and may be required to work as needed when snow events happen
  • Provide service and/or maintenance to various systems, including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing and electrical, and kitchen equipment
  • Performs various light construction duties such as framing, drywall repair, painting, installation of building features, and equipment and mechanical upgrades and repairs
  • Monitor all mechanical systems in building for proper operation and maintenance
  • Assists in custodial duties including but not limited to
    1. collect and take out trash
    2. dust and clean offices and restrooms, and stock essential supplies
    3. clean glass, mirrors, and windows
    4. sweep, mop, and vacuum floors, including but not limited to the halls, lobby, restrooms, and offices
    5. strip, re-wax, and buff floors (will train)
    6. Repair broken or leaking plumbing and restore full use of water fixtures
    7. Basic knowledge of door lock systems and camera systems
    8. Assess when service/repair must be outsourced
    9. Two weeks on call rotation

    Other Duties and Responsibilities :

    • Demonstrate a positive attitude toward working with the public
    • Must be available to be on-call on a two-week rotation
    Perform all other duties as assigned

    Education/Experience :

    High School diploma required.

    One year of building maintenance experience or related field, preferred.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

    • Ability to present self in a highly professional manner with a variety of offices and professional situations, by maintaining a positive and respectful attitude, while working independently and in a team environment
    • Must be able to work within a chain of command, work around inmates, follow directions exactly
    • When performing maintenance tasks, must follow proper guidelines and procedures for keeping track of all tools and parts in all areas
    • Must be able to work independently without supervision
    • Must be knowledgeable of electricity, plumbing, painting, and snow removal
    • Must be willing to work on door lock systems and security camera systems (will train)
    • Must be knowledgeable of painting and required preparation
    • Must be knowledgeable of grounds work, including concrete repair
    • Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions and procedures of typical building trades
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Must be knowledgeable in the operations of small and medium equipment, including preventive maintenance and troubleshooting and repair of equipment

    Physical Requirements :

    • Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold for mowing and snow removal
    • Must be able to push, pull, carry or lift heavy items regularly; up to 100 lbs
    • Position may require some strenuous activity; must be able to walk, stoop, bend, lift and be on your feet all day
