JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Maintenance Coordinator and Supervisor of School Construction, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for the general maintenance of school facilities and provides leadership and direction in area of expertise.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Holds High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Ability to perform general building and grounds maintenance tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to operate and care for maintenance materials, tools, and equipment.
- Must have skills and experience in one or noretrade areas to be considered Maintenance 1 personnel.
- Available for occasional irregular working hours including short-notice call in.
- Has good interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and productively.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- General grounds maintenance
- General maintenance in all building trades, telecommunications installation and repair
- Repair and maintenance of equipment and tools
- Repairs and maintains to operating manuals and manufacturer's recommendations/specifications
- Maintains a clean and organized work area, keeps tools and equipment in good working order and in place
- Considerate and responsive to school building personnel, explain situations, problems, solutions
- Can accept instruction and direction and willingness to provide input into decision-making
- Self-starter; can identify and respond correctly to problems
- Is able to lift 50 pounds
- Assumes willingness to work beyond an 8 hour day and responds to after hours emergency calls
- Maintains regular, on-time attendance
- Reacts to change productively and performs other duties as assigned
PAY & HOURS: This is a 12 month position with a minimum of 36.25 hours per week. Caroline County Board of Education, Support Services Personnel Salary
Schedule. Placement on the appropriate salary lane/step will be based on knowledge, experience, skills and training related to this position.
