Duties
Help
The major duties of the Maintenance Mechanic, include but are not limited to the following:
Perform a variety of preventive maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical, painting, and other reled trades required in maintenance and repair of buildings, structures, fixtures, and reled property.
Perform plumbing work involving maintenance and repair of a wide variety of piping, plumbing fixtures (lavories, commodes, sink, disposals, bhtubs and shower fixtures).
Makes electrical repairs by removing and replacing defective parts such as incandescent and fluorescent fixtures, receptacles, switches, pull chains, covers, ballasts, starters, sockets, door ball buttons, transformers, and other items reled to the installed system.
Determine merials and tools needed to perform routine maintenance and repairs to facilities, structures, equipment and reled fixtures.

You required to wear a uniform and comply with the Nional Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance provided.
Applicants must be least (1)18 years old or (2) least 16 years old and: (a) Have gradued from high school or been awarded a certifice equivalent to graduing from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocional training program; or (c) Have received a stement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rher than continuing their educion; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacion periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.

These positions are temporary, seasonal NTE 1039-hour appointments. The defined season is from November through May but can be variable during these months due to weher conditions, project needs, or funding.
Travel, transportion & relocion expenses will not be paid. Relocion expenses the employee's responsibility.

Physical Demands: Physical effort is heavy to modere, and requires occasional lifting or handling of objects or merials up to 50 pounds, unassisted, following proper lifting procedures to avoid injury. Frequently required to stand while working, climb ladders or scaffolding, and bend, stoop, climb, and work in awkward positions.
Working Conditions: Exposed to a variety of seasonal weher conditions while working outdoors (temperures -40 to 90+ degrees). Subject to danger of falling from ladders or scaffolding. Exposed to dust, dirt, wind, and rain. May work with dangerous chemicals and around moving equipment, paints, solvents, etc. May be exposed to electrical shocks, and biting insects.
Non-Competitive Rehire Eligibility: Effective May 26, 2018, please note th a temporary seasonal employee can only maintain their non-competitive rehire eligibility if they work no more than a combined total of 1,039 hours anywhere in the Nional Park Service (NPS) within their established service year. Accordingly, non-competitive rehire eligibility allows for re-appointment to the same position or another position approprie for temporary appointment with the same qualificion requirements (5 CFR 316.402[b][7]), based on series and grade, anywhere in the major subdivision (NPS).
If you have held a temporary seasonal appointment in the past 12 months, and have already worked the maximum 1,039 hours during th period, you are still welcome to apply. However, please be aware th exceeding the limit of 1,039 hours in your established service year will result in the loss of your non-competitive rehire eligibility.

Perform a variety of preventive maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical, painting, and other reled trades required in maintenance and repair of buildings, structures, fixtures, and reled property.
Perform plumbing work involving maintenance and repair of a wide variety of piping, plumbing fixtures (lavories, commodes, sink, disposals, bhtubs and shower fixtures).
Makes electrical repairs by removing and replacing defective parts such as incandescent and fluorescent fixtures, receptacles, switches, pull chains, covers, ballasts, starters, sockets, door ball buttons, transformers, and other items reled to the installed system.
Determine merials and tools needed to perform routine maintenance and repairs to facilities, structures, equipment and reled fixtures.

These positions are temporary, seasonal NTE 1039-hour appointments. The defined season is from November through May but can be variable during these months due to weher conditions, project needs, or funding.

Non-Competitive Rehire Eligibility: Effective May 26, 2018, please note th a temporary seasonal employee can only maintain their non-competitive rehire eligibility if they work no more than a combined total of 1,039 hours anywhere in the Nional Park Service (NPS) within their established service year.
