SUMMARY

The Maintenance Supervisor coordinates the company’s maintenance function and oversight of the preventive maintenance program, repair of all equipment, machinery and vehicles. Direct reports will include all maintenance Associates for all plants. Primary responsibilities will include planning, leading, assigning, monitoring and evaluating the work of maintenance personnel. The Supervisor will be responsible for the selection and development of Associates to ensure that departmental goals and continuous improvement objectives are met. The Supervisor will hire, train, and supervise Associates to ensure a safe operation and make certain that proper processes and procedures are followed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Repair part/spare part identification, quote gathering, ordering and tracking.
  • Daily GEMBA participation and daily maintenance related updates/communications.
  • EHS audit finding resolution and participation in monthly meetings.
  • Evaluation of Maintenance Technicians and Lead Technicians.
  • Time-card management, vacation tracking of hourly maintenance technicians.
  • Capital Project planning, coordination and completion.
  • Tracks work request backlog and assists the maintenance manager in prioritizing and assigning work orders based on need of skillset and work load of team members.
  • OJT for the maintenance department Leads and technicians, the ability to determine and teach best practices within the maintenance department.
  • Maintenance Lead and technician skills development and training initiatives.
  • Assesses machine breakdowns for complexity/priority to ensure the correct skillset is assigned to the troubleshooting or repair of the machine to maintain the safety of all maintenance technicians.
  • Lead complex breakdown diagnostics and coordinate short term and long term repairs with maintenance team members and leadership.
  • Communicates with Production, Engineering and EHS team members on a regular basis verbally and in writing/electronic so excellent communication skills are an absolute must.
  • Verifies work request and EHS request completion while ensuring standard of work is acceptable and meets requirements of the scope of the work.
  • PM and TPM development and implementation, assists in ensuring all scheduled PM’s are completed on time and to the standard of work.
  • Participates in process improvement and Kaizen initiatives within manufacturing as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Root cause analysis of machine breakdown and component failure, implement solutions to increase run time and efficiency based on findings.
  • Responsible for overall site equipment and maintenance, requiring 24/7 on call availability
  • Develop and implement break-down and preventative maintenance programs and processes
  • Responsible for maintenance vendor relationships and serve as a main contact
  • Assign Associates to expedite repairs and maintenance of all equipment and buildings in response to written maintenance requests from each department.
  • Supervises work crews on large jobs (e.g., moving and installing large pieces of equipment) to ensure that each job is completed safely and efficiently with a minimum of equipment damage and down time
  • Monitors the work of all maintenance personnel to ensure that quality work is completed and that all safety precautions and procedures are observed
  • Writes and dispatches purchase orders for parts, equipment, and supplies
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job will supervise all maintenance positions within the organization to include, Team Leads, and Technicians. The supervisor is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these areas. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree from four-year College or university with 3 years related experience; Associates Degree with 5 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience should include the development and implementation of maintenance programs in an OSHA regulated, manufacturing environment. These programs should be predictive and preventative to reduce down time and associated costs, promote efficiency, and improve safety and quality. Qualified applicants should have excellent project management and negotiating skills. Other attributes required include strong interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with all levels of the organization and external contacts. Must have organizational skills, be detail-oriented, and possess strong facilitation skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents general business documents, professional journals, technical procedures, and/ or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedural manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and other regulatory external contacts.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratio and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
