Mosquito Control Maintenance Worker

As a Mosquito Control Maintenance Worker, you will engage in essential maintenance tasks that directly contribute to the health and safety of our community. Your responsibilities will include:

• Perform maintenance work requiring the utilization of specific skills associated with drainage maintenance and the application of pesticides for mosquito control.
• Will remove objects from work area which impeded drainage; bush and grade ditches to maintain efficient water runoff; apply larvicide to areas harboring mosquito larvae and pupae or having the potential to harbor these to reduce mosquito populations; apply adulticides in areas with known high levels of mosquito activity.
• Apply herbicide to areas where vegetation obstructs proper drainage; cut/ clear trees and heavy brush to gain access to drainage areas; mix and apply chemicals per specifications on the label for field applications.
• Lift materials and other items up to 50 lbs regularly.

Applicant will be required to obtain and maintain either a Registered Technician's License or Category 8 Pesticide Applicator's License within six (6) months of employment.

Position is ALPHA I and is required to work during all inclement weather (flooding, hurricanes, and snow, etc.) an/or in response to short- term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to mandatory drug testing. Positive drug test results may result in counseling and/or discipline, up to and including, termination. Pre-employment physical is required.
