The Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA) announces the opening of the position titled Network Maintenance Engineer located in Oklahoma City. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring the continuous and compliant operation of low-power translator sites and associated equipment across the state. This position requires a highly skilled and safety-conscious individual capable of performing hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair, often in challenging conditions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for emergency repairs, promptly responding to reports of transmitter outages or problems, typically from on-duty transmitter operators.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for the maintenance, repair, and testing of assigned low-power translators and associated analog and digital electronic equipment, ensuring FCC-compliant operation. This includes troubleshooting to the component level.
  • Maintain assigned sites, including visual inspection of tower lighting systems and supervision of all tower-related work. Report maintenance needs for buildings (e.g., roof leaks, AC issues) and towers at OETA sites. Perform preventative maintenance on electronic equipment and clean air conditioner coils.
  • Provide system-wide technical support for the maintenance, testing, and installation of equipment. Offer technical expertise and network recommendations to meet or exceed performance criteria established by the FCC, FAA, SMPTE, SBE, State of Oklahoma, and OETA policy.
  • Compile data and prepare comprehensive site files and written reports. Assist in fulfilling FAA requirements for logging and reporting tower lighting outages.
  • Research and procure necessary equipment, parts, and supplies.
  • Work collaboratively with the public, cable television companies, and other departments and agencies to provide information and general assistance. Develop a clear understanding of customer needs and goals.
  • Prioritize safety in all maintenance work, fieldwork, and travel. Perform required in-state travel to work sites in all weather conditions, utilizing a provided state-owned vehicle. Adhere to all State of Oklahoma rules for state vehicle operation, including submitting monthly mileage reports.
  • Occasional night and weekend work is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of broadcast equipment.
  • SBE Certification or equivalent education and experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to kneel, lift, and carry equipment weighing a minimum of 50 lbs. Must be able to climb ladders as required for job tasks.
  • Works under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Engineering.

COMPENSATION

Salary $55,000-$60,000 per year. A generous benefit package including health, leave, retirement, plus much more is included.
